The picnics have everything that you need to self-cater (catering options are available too), and are set up and taken down for you. You can just turn up with your lover, with your friends and family, your colleagues, or even just yourself to enjoy an incredibly beautiful afternoon in the sumptuous picnic sets. I am a firm believer in the ethos that it is worth spending time and energy to make things as fun and beautiful as they can be, because life should be lived with lots of colour and laughter.
And I have always, always loved a picnic.
Sure, going to a restaurant is a great time. But how much better when you can kick off your shoes, feel the sun on your face, smell the grass, and have a little lie down with closed eyes mid-coversation if you feel the desire too, without causing outrage to the diners around you. You can hear the birds sing, you can play your own music, and nobody will chase you away after you've polished off dessert. A day of grazing, of wine drinking, of lively conversation or quiet reading, all in the most beautiful setting of all - mother nature.
Since becoming a mother myself, I realized that my little duckling would need a shady nest to shelter in, during the sizzling Swiss summers.
And so came the arrival of the canopy.
Plus, add a naughty little baby to the mix, and I'd take the cool green grass and open air over a packed and sweaty cafe or bar any day. Let them yell, let them frolick, and no fear of annoyed customers or dirty looks.
